Mina Rättigheter (My Rights) is a website about the human rights of children and young people. These rights are found in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which applies to everyone under the age of 18.
Mina Rättigheter helps you understand what rights you and all other children have, every day, all over the world. For example:
- Everyone has equal worth.
- Adults must consider what’s best for you.
- You have the right to live, grow, and feel good.
- You are allowed to express your opinions – adults should listen to you.
Minarattigheter.se is aimed at children and young people. Here, you can learn about the rights you have. Read texts, watch videos.
About Barnombudsmannen and our mission
In Sweden, all children and young people under 18 have their own ombudsman, called the "Barnombudsman". Currently, Juno Blom is the Ombudsman for Children. She is also the head of a government agency with the same name: Barnombudsmannen.
About 25 people work at this agency to protect and promote the rights of children and young people.
The "Barnombudsman" communicates with children and young people to find out what they think. We pass on the knowledge we gather about their daily lives to politicians in Sweden. We also share it with decision-makers in other government agencies. You can read more about our work barnombudsmannen.se.
